research statistics: readership MediaTitles 17 Media share of Travel & Accommodation ad spend (+2.7%) 2010 TrAvel & AccoMModATion Ad Spend up by 2.7% yoy Only recording a modest increase YOY, 6th ranked Travel & Accommodation’s growth was driven by two major category sectors: top ranked Travel Agents- Service/Tour (+5%) with 41% share of spend and 3rd ranked Tourist Authorities (+6%) and 14% share. Share of Media Spend by Motor vehicle Sectors (+14%) Jan–dec 2010 enTerTAinMenT And leiSure up by 2.1% The 3rd largest Major Category in 2010 recorded a modest increase of 2.1% YOY, which was driven by positive ad spend grow th for 4 of the top 5 spending sectors, led by the dominant Live Entertainment (+7%) and Cinema (+10%) sectors with36% share of spend. Media share of Food category ad spend $418.9M (+4.8%) Jan– dec 2010 Food Ad Spend ShowS GrowTh, up 4.8% In a growth ad market, the Food Category increased its est. spend YOY by 4.8% to retain 7th ranking this year. Across the major sectors, the increase YOY was mainly driven by Ice Cream/Frozen Confectionery (+23%), Sauces/Gravies (+41%), Biscuits (+23%) and Bread (+53%). MoTor vehicleS cATeGory Ad SpendS increASeS by 14% yoy Motor Vehicle Dealers dominate this 2nd ranked Motor Vehicles Category although only registering a 2% increase YOY. One of a number of Top Categories which have rebounded following the GFC in 2009, with all key sectors recording strong to robust increases YOY. Share by media ad spend for entertainment and leisure (+2.1%) Jan–dec 2010 Share of ad spend by Media in Finance category (+13.2%) Jan–dec 2010 FinAnce cATeGory GAinS MoMenTuM wiTh 13.2% liFT yoy The Finance Category ad spend increased by an estimated 13.2% YOY, with top ranking Corporate/Sponsorship recording a 40% increase YOY, to overtake Credit/Debit Cards (despite a 14% lift in activity from 2009). Personal Banking & Services (-17%) was the only category to record a decrease, driven by five top ten advertisers recording cutbacks YOY: NAB $4.9M (-41 .4%), St George $6.7M (-29.5%), Ubank $4M (-14 .4%), Bankwest $6.8M (-13.9%) and Commonwealth Bank $6.9M (-3.3%).
